Making fluffy, restaurant-style rice at home doesn't have to be hit or miss. With the Ninja Foodi PossibleCooker PRO, I can finally say goodbye to soggy or burnt rice. This 8-in-1 kitchen hero does it all, slow cooks, steams, bakes, sautés, and yes, makes perfect rice every single time.

A bowl of cooked white rice garnished with chopped herbs sits on a wooden surface next to a Ninja kitchen appliance and a blue plaid cloth.

I use it at least three times a week, and my favorite trick is to sauté basmati rice in a little oil first, then switch to steam mode. The result? Light, fluffy, and flavorful rice without babysitting a pot on the stove.

The Ingredients

A glass bowl of uncooked rice, a glass jug of oil, a wooden bowl of mixed peppercorns, and a wooden bowl of salt on a white wooden surface.

olive oil - adds flavor and prevents sticking.

basmati rice - rinse well for the fluffiest texture.

water - slightly less than stovetop rice because the steam locks in.

Pinch of salt - optional, but I always add it.

How to Make Perfect Rice in the Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker

Rinse the rice. Place basmati rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch so your rice isn't sticky.

Sauté. Select Sauté mode on the Ninja Foodi Multi Cooker. Add olive oil and the rinsed rice. Stir for 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.

Add water. Pour in the water and add a pinch of salt if using. Stir once.

Steam. Switch to Steam mode, cover with the glass lid, and cook for about 15 minutes.

Rest. Let the rice sit covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with the integrated spoon.

Tips for Success

  • Always rinse the rice until the water is clear, this one step makes all the difference.
  • If you prefer softer rice, add 2 tablespoons more water.
  • Double or triple the recipe (the Ninja's 8.5-quart pot has plenty of room).
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Variations

  • Herb rice: Stir in fresh chopped parsley or cilantro after cooking.
  • Garlic rice: Sauté minced garlic with the rice before steaming.
  • Veggie rice: Add frozen peas or diced carrots when adding water.

FAQ

Can I use brown rice?

Yes, but you'll need to increase the water (about 1 ¾ cups per cup of rice) and steam longer (35-40 minutes).

Can I make rice ahead?

Absolutely! Cook, cool, and refrigerate. Reheat in the microwave or steam mode with a splash of water.

Do I need the Ninja Foodi PossibleCooker PRO, or will another cooker work

This recipe is tested with the Ninja MC1001C PossibleCooker PRO. Other multi cookers may work, but settings and times can vary.
